No information on the person or people responsible for Jericho’s death has been released, except that it was an illegal poaching operation.

BuzzFeed reports that other conservation groups in the area have confirmed the lion to be alive and well.

CONSERVATIONSISTS in Zimbabwe fear that Cecil the lion’s brother, Jericho, had been shot by poachers.

Meanwhile as reported by the Inquisitr, Zimbabwean officials are attempting to have Dr. Walter Palmer, the dentist who killed Cecil the lion, extradited to face legal action in that country. “Jericho is as likely as Cecil to be the father of some of the cubs, so he has a stake in their survival”. The lion had a fitted Global Positioning System satellite collar as part of current research efforts being done in Hwange National Park and its surrounding areas.

The talk show host is the latest star to have his say on what Walter James Palmer did to the beloved lion.

Professor David Macdonald, director of Oxford University’s Wildlife Conservation Research Unit (WildCRU) said: “Jericho is alive and well”.

According to reports, Jericho, just like his brother, was illegally shot during a hunt in Huwange National Park. I hired several professional guides and they secured all proper permits.

Zimbabwe said it will allow for exceptions if there is written authorization from the director-general of the parks and wildlife authority, and “only if accompanied by parks staff whose cost will be met by the landowner”.

“Hunting of lions, leopards and elephants outside of Hwange National Park has been suspended with immediate effect”, Zimbabwe’s wildlife authority said in a statement.

Bronkhorst, who was charged this week with “failing to prevent an illegal hunt”, said Palmer had taken a photograph with Cecil’s body – and claimed both he and the dentist had been “devastated” when they realised Cecil was wearing a collar.

Hwange is favored by hunters because of its teeming wildlife, Matipano said.

Palmer, who admitted hunting down the animal, went into hiding after he was bombarded with mad messages online and notes were left at his dental office in Minneapolis, Minnesota, condemning him.

“Hunting brings in no less than $40 million a year”, he said.
