Police have handed the investigative findings to Jerusalem district prosecutors, who will decide how to proceed. In one case, there’s a recommendation to indict Netanyahu for ordering food and private chefs for family events at the expense of the prime minister’s residence. The allegation is using state funds for private family entertainment.

Channel 2 television and the Haaretz newspaper both said earlier on Sunday that the police backed a trial, without saying how they got the information.

The suspicions relate to Sara Netanyahu’s alleged misuse of state funds to pay a caregiver for her ailing father before his death; the hiring of an electrician who did not meet the requirements of a government tender; and for opulent meals.

“At the end of the investigation, all the alleged evidence, findings, and conclusions collected by the police were given to the Jerusalem State Attorney’s Office, which was informed of the investigation for purposes of making a decision about it”, the police said.

“All of the alleged evidence. was passed to the Jerusalem district attorney, who has been following the investigation, for the goal of studying the material and reaching a decision (whether to prosecute)”, it said.

Netanyahu, whose questioning stirred great public and political interest, arrived at the offices of the Israel police anti-fraud unit in the town of Lod.

Reports say the probe also was prompted by evidence from a former chief custodian at the Netanyahu official residence. Mrs. Netanyahu is accused of ordering his services without getting approval from any government body for the spending, and the report claims that much of the work he supposedly did was unnecessary.

On Tuesday the Israeli state comptroller issued a report on Netanyahu’s foreign trips, some with his wife and children, in 2003-05 when he was finance minister.

Netanyahu reportedly asked Fahima to do electrical work at the house in Caesarea on weekends, when rates were higher. Over a three-month period, Fahima was called to come nearly every weekend to do work, in addition to Yom Kippur, an unusual time to call out a service worker.

No criminal charges have been brought in that investigation.
