Zika virus: Concerned Serena to go `super protected` in Rio
Reflecting on the health dangers posed by the Zika virus, the 34-year-old insisted it is something that has been on her mind and said that she will keep herself fully protected in the country, Sport24 reported.

The Olympic Games have never been moved from their host city due to medical concerns.
The WHO is continuing to advise that Zika, which is linked to thousands of babies born with birth defects in Brazil, is not a reason to move or postpone the Games.
Studies have found that the Zika virus is responsible for birth defects such as microcephaly, which is when children are born with an abnormally small head and an underdeveloped brain.
The Olympics and Paralympics, to be held from Aug 5 to Sept 18, will take place during Brazil’s winter “when there are fewer active mosquitoes and the risk of being bitten is lower”, the World Health Organization said this month.
Cancelling this summer’s Olympic Games in Rio because of concerns over the Zika virus would be “unthinkable”, says Novak Djokovic.
” We reside in an exceptionally interconnected world, global travel and trade are day-to-day activities that provide Zika virus a chance to spread out”, said Jonathan Ball, professor of molecular virology at the U.K.’s University of Nottingham.
Novak Djokovic urged people to think about Brazilians who are having to live with the Zika outbreak on a daily basis rather than worrying about how the situation might affect those travelling to the country for the Rio Olympics in August.
” The very best way to reduce danger of illness is to follow public health travel guidance”, it spokened.
One of the signatories of the letter, brain injury specialist Dr Ford Vox, called the WHO’s response “defeatist, depressing, and quite a bit too quick for anyone to believe they gave the letter due consideration”. The WHO’s recommendations is that pregnant women must not travel to locations with Zika virus transmission, consisting of Rio de Janeiro.
The connection between Zika and microcephaly first came to light last fall in Brazil, which has actually confirmed more than 1,400 cases of microcephaly.
The letter states: “We are concerned that World Health Organization is rejecting these alternatives because of a conflict of interest”.
According to CNN, the International Olympic Committee asserts it does not plan to postpone or cancel the Olympics.

The health experts called that relationship “overly close”, but the International Olympic Committee dismissed that characterization, saying it “does not now have” a memorandum of understanding with the World Health Organization.
