Castroneves led a portion of the race, but lost the lead on a restart on Lap 158, when Tony Kanaan passed Castroneves for the lead and then began battling with Josef Newgarden.

Kanaan, who performs for Chip Ganassi Racing, started 12th when he won the 2013 Indy 500.
“I have no idea how we pulled that off”, he declared.
“This is really the first time I’ve ever felt like I could have won that race and it just didn’t happen”. “The emotional roller-coaster of this race is ridiculous. I hope I can just look ahead while I’m driving”.
But in the end, the 29-year-old Canadian finished seventh. “Obviously I have to pass 17 people before I get really happy with my vehicle”, Kanaan told reporters after practice.
“You have to have your mind open to learn something, but I love this place”.
