Gunman among at least 2 dead in Houston shooting
“Anytime that you have a situation like this where not only the public – in this mass amount of shots fired – the public is threatened, but when you have eight officers on the scene like that, it’s just a miracle today we didn’t have officers that were hurt.”

Another deputy was saved by a bullet proof vest, the Houston Chronicle reported.
The shelter-in-place order has been lifted, as police have determined that the situation is under control, but this story is still developing and the Inquisitr will continue to update as more information becomes available. The gunmen armed themselves with AR-15s and shot at a police helicopter, which sustained five bullet holes.
A bomb squad remains at the scene searching for unspent ammunition. Cannon says the county medical examiner’s office may identify the gunman on Monday. She said police came to the door about two hours later and asked if anyone in the house was being held captive, and if they could walk around the backyard. Investigators believe it may have been caused by gunfire hitting a gas pump, Montalvo said. Authorities say their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. Officials say they are both out of the hospital as of Sunday evening.
Two people are dead and six others have been injured in a shooting in west Houston, according to the Houston Police Department, CBS affiliate KHOU reported. Police originally described him as a suspect, but later said they weren’t sure.
Cannon said three wounded people, two male and one female, are in the hospital. The second officer was shot in the hand. “I heard the first shot and I thought it was a transformer” exploding, he said. She took their two children, ages 6 and 7, into the bathroom, told them to eat breakfast in there, and called 911.
Police spokesman John Cannon says there were two armed suspects involved. He was taken to the hospital and is also expected to be OK.
Police had urged residents of the west side neighborhood to remain in their homes amid reports of a man firing a weapon.
