California Vietnam War memorial to the missing vandalized

At 6:15 p.m. The Honor Guard will conduct a flag retirement and burning ceremony and properly dispose of unserviceable American flags.

The Brighton Cemetery Board of Trustees will be holding a ceremony at 10:30 a.m.in Brighton Cemetery. Now, Veteran’s Advisory Member and Chairman of the Holden selectboard Anthony Renzoni hopes to have a larger turnout for the ending ceremony at the Veteran’s Memorial.

Craig veterans are out in full force on Memorial Day to honor the memory of fallen soldiers. A Boy Scout will carry the American flag and the pledge of allegiance will be said.

The flags represent the honor for the veterans who fought for our country, from the Vietnam War to Spanish-American war. Ceremony will conclude with taps and the retiring of colors.

American Legion Post 266 in Tea invites area residents to join them for remembrances Monday morning at 9:00AM. No, the intent of Memorial Day is to remember those who have died in service to this country during war.

New this year before the parade, the Wayne-Westland Firefighters Charity is hosting a pancake breakfast from 9 a.m.to noon at the civic league.

“Memorial day was born out of necessity out of an attempt to make sense out of the horrendous lose of life suffered during the Civil War, which killed more Americans than any of the nations previous wars or wars since”, he said. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is investigating. The club will lead 2,000 motorcycles in a procession, flags raised high, to the Veterans Memorial Cemetery where the Green Berets will present a wreath memorial, to be followed by a 21-gun salute.

“What we’re doing is we’re unveiling 20 signs that depict different wars and major conflicts that the Americans have been in since the beginning of the United States”, said Will Midkiff, Commander of American Legion Post 472. Refreshments will be served afterward.

At 10:45 a.m., everyone will assemble at St. Michael’s Catholic School for a parade. The ceremony is set for 11 a.m.

Gumersindo Gomez, President of MA chapter, Vietnam Veterans of America told 22News, “It actually took me probably five, six years before I could honor what I did and accept what I did, I didn’t care what people thought then”.
