On Sunday, Pakistani police officials announced that Azam’s brother, Mohammad Qasim, was pressing anti-terror charges against United States officials.

“US officials whose name I do not know accepted the responsibility in media for this incident, so I want justice and request legal action against those responsible for it”, Mohammad Qasim, Azam’s brother said in a police report, a copy of which was seen by the AFP news agency.

Concerns regarding Mansour s identity were raised after he along with a driver travelling with him in a auto got killed in a drone strike in Nushki, Balochistan.

Azam’s family may seek a trial in absentia for a symbolic victory or they may attempt to push for compensation. The official account is that we informed Pakistan of the strike after it took place.

Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has said that the defence of Pakistan is in safe hands and no one could dare to cast an evil eye on it.

A statement said that Maulvi Hibatullah Akhundzada was unanimously voted by the Taliban leadership.to be appointed as the successor of Mullah Mansour.

Mansour’s death was unusual not just because the US owned up to the attack, but also because it was targeted at a prominent figure in the Taliban, which has generally been off-limits under the Obama administration.
