Is school closed on Memorial Day?
The town’s annual Memorial Day Parade will take place today at 7 p.m. Thomas X. Mernar is the grand marshal for the parade that begins on Belgrove Drive.

The Memorial Day parade will proceed east from the beach on Wisconsin Avenue, then north on Oakwood Avenue before a pause at Veterans Bridge.
The parade will move down State Street to the Ogdensburgh Cemetery where a ceremony will be held. Previous year the Veterans of Foreign Wars post was the lead group. Ogdensburg Rescue will assist in the ceremony.
Roxbury Township and the Roxbury Veterans of Foreign War Post 2833 are hosting the Memorial Day parade and ceremony on Monday.
Lineup will be at 10:30 a.m.at Sacred Heart Church. The cemetery is located at 1390 Main St.
Though you may not know it, Memorial Day also has a special meaning for Jackson. The flags will stand until 5 p.m. Monday night.
A free barbecue lunch at the hall will follow the cemetery service.
Cost is $9 for adults and $4.50 for children. The church is handicapped-accessible. The planned memorial will have those names on its central honor wall. The event takes place at 11 a.m. Saturday. Wednesday evening, dozens of Boy Scouts were in the cemetery, placing the small American flags on graves. All veterans and volunteers welcome.
A series of local towns in ME are holding parades Monday.
All Saints Cemetery memorial service, 10 a.m., 3300 Springbrook Road, Pleasant Prairie.
The Delavan-Darien High School band will perform before and during the ceremony. The parade ends at the Ives Park Gazebo. Guest speaker Lyle Bradley, an Anoka veteran.
A BBQ will follow at the VFW for all veterans, guests and family members.
A Memorial Day Rememberance will be held on Monday at Turkey Brook Park. Rides will be provided for World War II and Korean veterans who wish to attend. The clinic is a local outpatient therapeutic hub for war veterans. A volley will be fired over his grave and taps will be played. It will feature a 21-gun salute and a roll call of veterans who have died in the past year.
At the conclusion of the day’s events, refreshments will be served at the post, 34 Gouverneur St. The parade will turn west on Mount Pleasant Avenue and South up Legion Place to the Whippanong American Legion Post 155 home. Any veterans wishing to march in the parade with the combined color guard are invited to do so; uniforms are not required.
American Legion Post 13 will honor the military personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice Monday.
After the Maplewood service, another ceremony will begin at 10:45 a.m.in Blacklick at the Jefferson Cemetery, on the east side of Reynoldsburg-New Albany Road, with the entrance nearly directly across from Taylor Road.
