Mr Sanders cautioned that to beat the bombastic Republican nominee, the Democratic party must defend working families by choosing a non-traditional candidate who would stand up to “Wall Street” and the “greed of corporate America”.

The Vermont senator’s vice-presidential prerequisites look like a list of his campaign’s top talking points.

The report provided new ammunition to Clinton’s critics to attack her for not being honest and trustworthy at a time when she is almost clinching the Democratic Party’s nomination.

In a separate interview on “Face The Nation” on Sunday, Sanders reiterated his concerns over the Democratic primary process.
