Donald Trump Runs Away from Debate with Bernie Sanders
Presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump, in rejecting an invitation to debate with Sanders, referred to the Democratic nominating process as “rigged”. “As much as I want to”, Donald Trump said, a debate with Hillary Clinton’s primary rival would be “inappropriate”.

A day after saying he would welcome a debate with Mr Sanders, Mr Trump called the idea “inappropriate” because as the Republican presumptive nominee he should only face the Democrats’ final choice.
He said his campaign had been contacted by television networks, including ABC, interested in sponsoring the debate.
“That means having a candidate who can excite working families, excite young people, bring them into the political process, create a large voter turnout”, the Vermont senator said on NBC’s “Meet the Press”. Given that the California primary is on June 7, it is imperative that this all comes together as soon as possible.
“If he paid a nice sum for charity, I would love to do that”, Trump said on the show. The campaign, in a statement, said the two are “aggressive attack surrogates” for Clinton, and Sanders’s lawyer said Malloy and Frank can’t work impartially “while laboring under such deeply held bias”.
“I would not be honest if I said I figured it out yet because he is so unpredictable because he changes his mind all the time”, Sanders said.
Trump had said he would debate Sanders if he could raise $10 million for charity, but it was never clear how serious he was about the whole thing.
Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump used late-night TV appearances this week to hype a potential debate between them.
He said the debate would take place “in a big arena somewhere” and it would get high ratings.
“I think that is who Donald Trump is, and I think the American people should be very concerned about somebody who keeps changing his mind, not only on this debate but on virtually every issue he has been asked about”.
Sanders and Maher discussed other subjects, too, including a report this week by the State Department inspector general that criticized Clinton for her private email use as secretary of state. Trump made that remark at a nationally televised news conference celebrating is having reached the magic 1,237 delegates that secured his GOP nomination.
