Dozens arrested during clashes at Donald Trump rally

Trump delivered a speech inside the San Diego Convention Center as more than 1,000 protesters representing various opposition groups demonstrated outside the venue, Fox 5 San Diego reported.

About a thousand Trump foes demonstrated outside the San Diego Convention Center, some engaging in shouting matches with the candidate’s supporters and many carrying signs critical of his plan to wall off the US border with Mexico, which runs just south of the city.

“Fantastic job on handling the thugs who tried to disrupt our very peaceful and well attended rally”, The Donald tweeted.

But a San Diego protester may have brought that phenomenon to a whole new level.

In a message to the San Diego Police Department, Trump applauded the officers’ response to the protesters. The Democratic candidate will hold a late-morning rally at Los Angeles Maritime Museum Friday on the sixth consecutive day he has campaigned in the Southland for the June 7 California primary. Officers showed up in riot gear and pushed back demonstrators to keep both sides apart. Police also used pepper spray on several protesters, according to CNN.

Hundreds of protesters gathered outside a Donald Trump rally on Friday, chanting “f**k Donald Trump” and holding obscene signs – including one that included a death threat against Trump should he win the presidency in November.

Trump has weathered months of blowback from all ends of the political spectrum for his immigration policy, which calls for the building of a wall along the US-Mexico border and deporting the almost 11 million undocumented immigrants who live in the United States.

Among those swept up by police was local lawyer Bryan Pease who is running for San Diego city attorney in the upcoming election.

Activists have criticized his plan as being cruel and impossible to implement. At Mr Trump’s campaign stops, attendees often chant “build the wall”.

Fans of the presumptive Republican nominee and those outside later got into physical confrontations as the rally let out into the streets.

Rep. Zinke says in his statement, he and Trump may not agree on 100-percent of the issues, but he will endorse the candidate over the presumptive Democratic nominee, Hillary Clinton. However, in a ruling released Friday, U.S. District Court Judge Gonzalo Curiel did not agree and said there is public interest now in this case.
