Mediate, a six-time PGA Tour victor, said the experience of losing the 2008 U.S. Open in a 18-hole playoff to Tiger Woods had helped him close out the win over Montgomerie, who has won three senior majors since joining the Champions Tour in 2013. It was very windy and very hard to judge the distances into the pins. The 58-year-old German won the Regions Tradition last week in Alabama for his sixth senior major title and 100th worldwide victory.

Spieth had a pair of curling 20-foot birdie putts on the back nine.

The 20-year-old Jutanugarn is coming off a win at the Kingsmill Championship after becoming the first Thai victor in tour history the previous week in Alabama.

Mediate pushed his tee shot into sand at the par-3 17th but holed out for a birdie, giving him a three-shot cushion playing the last.

For years, Montgomerie was viewed as being one of the best Wednesday interviews in golf, and this was no exception. “Not only good, but when I did bad, they made sure they told me I did bad”.

Fresh off a landmark victory, Bernhard Langer tries to enter a league of his own at the Senior PGA Championship. And then I won in ’99 and 2000. Colonial member Ryan Palmer and Webb Simpson tied for third.

Six years ago, he won the Senior British Open at Carnoustie, then traveled across eight time zones and won the U.S. Senior Open at Sahalee outside Seattle. DalCorobbo is a PGA assistant professional at Brickyard Crossing in Indiana.

After his performance at Harbor Shores, do you think Colin Montgomerie has more Senior majors in his locker?

But that quintuple-bogey on the par-4 16th in his first start in a Champions Tour major was, Big John fans will have to admit, vintage John Daly.

“This is a blast”, Sauers said. “Some good pins. A little bit more wind”. Brandt Jobe, Kirk Triplett, Tom Lehman, J.R. Roth and Rod Spittle are at 8-under. In Alabama, Langer joined Nicklaus as the only players to win four different senior majors.

His countryman Rocco Mediate was the standout in the opening round of the tournament, carding a 9-under 62 on Thursday to surge to a one-stroke lead.

Jutanugarn finished at 15-under 273 at Travis Pointe after starting the day with a one-shot edge thanks to a closing eagle in the third-round.

She won three weeks ago in Alabama to become the first Thai victor in tour history and followed with a victory last week in Virginia.

Christina Kim was second after a 71.
