According to Davie police, the duo found a human body with at least one alligator feeding on it. Police said the fishermen immediately called 911.
Officials later said the dead body was that of a man, but little else was known.
Police officers arrived at the disturbing scene and saw a body being eaten by the two alligators, Davie Police Capt. Dale Engle told the Sentinel.
Engle says the alligators lingered as officers recovered the body, which was largely in tact as it was removed from the water.
Davie police said two fishermen came across the remains Monday evening in the water along USA 27 between Sheridan Street and Stirling Road.
The Broward County Medical Examiner and Davie police will work to solve the mystery of who this person was and how they got there. Could it have involved a fisherman?
