Arsenal players too interested in selfies and six-packs – Roy Keane

Roy Keane has suggested Manchester United will struggle to make a sustained challenge for the Premier League title this season.

“I still think Chelsea are the team to beat; they have the strongest spine”.

The Gunners have not win the English Premier Leagu title since the 2003/2005 season and the former United midfielder believes that drought won’t end anytime soon.

“They’ve lots of good players, good characters who roll their sleeves up, just not those who are trying to get their pictures every day of the week, selfies…”

‘What about Arsenal’s chances in the League, Roy, they’re looking stronger this year?’ “Ahhhh listen”, he said, cocking his head to one side, “we’ve the same thing…[every year]”.

Keane won the Champions League in 1999 with United.

Chelsea are the team to beat; with the strongest spine”.

The Red Devils have already signed five players this summer after Van Gaal snapped up Bastian Schweinsteiger, Morgan Schneiderlin, Memphis Depay, Matteo Darmian and Sergio Romero.

And his old club United were the first to get both barrels, with the Irishman claiming they had lost their way.

“They are a bit like they were in late 1980s, buying a lot of players thinking they will gel into a team”, he explained. “I don’t think United have enough about them”.

Keane notched up seven titles in that time, with three going to Highbury, as well as four seasons where they ended the year in second place – or “best losers”, as Keane might call them.

Keane said: “If I do ever go back into management, obviously the plan would be to get to the very top”. I think they’re after the boy [John] Stones too, and if they add him.

“Man City bought one or two, but I don’t think City’s dressing room is improved by the players they’ve brought in”, Keane added.

Despite admitting that Arsenal have good quality players in the squad, he pointed out that there were a couple of players in the squad who seemed more interested in selfies and six-packs than they did playing football.

“If Diego Costa stays fit, with Radamel Falcao in the background and if Chelsea stay hungry, they’ll do it again”.
