LSU gets national seeding; Tulane, SLU, UL and La. Tech join party

Euphoria emanated from the southern end of the UCCU Center on Monday morning when the UVU baseball team learned its destination for the program’s first NCAA appearance in school history. The Big 12 has the other national seed in Texas Tech (41-16). Rice, Southeastern Louisiana and Utah Valley will also play in the double elimination regional. The best-of-three portion of the tourney will see the victor of the Baton Rouge regional face wither NC State, Coastal Carolina, St. Mary’s, or Navy. The Cajuns will be the No. 1 seed and will host No. 2 seed Arizona, No. 3 seed Sam Houston St, and No. 4 seed Princeton.

After winning the WAC Tournament Saturday night, the Utah Valley University now gets to face one of the top teams in the nation in the NCAA Tournament.

The victor of the Lafayette Regional will square off against the Starkville, Miss., Regional victor in next weekend’s Super Regional. Game 2 Loser (ESPN3) Game 4 – 7 p.m. – Game 1 victor vs. Games in the Starkville Regional will be played at Duby Noble Field.

ESPN3 will have live broadcasts of all NCAA tournament games involving Louisiana teams.

Texas Tech is the 5th overall seed, will host a regional and opens play against Fairfield at 2:00 p.m.
