Amyx, 45, is being held at Collin County Jail for the alleged murder of Streit-Spears.
Investigators said Amyx took a photo of himself and one of the victim and posted them on her Facebook page.
News 8 is not showing the photos due to their graphic nature. Amyx, who may have also lived in the apartment, had “superficial wounds believed to be self-inflicted”, Tilley said.
The caption read “Please pray for us”, according to the New York Daily News.
Her sister immediately called police after seeing the gory images and tried in vain to have them pulled from Facebook.
The victim, Jennifer Streit-Spears, 43, was found dead at an apartment complex.
Police forced their way into the apartment, which had been locked from the inside, and found Streit-Spears’ body. Friends of Streit-Spears say Facebook refuses to take the image down.
‘I did ask [Facebook] to remove it several times, ‘ she told the Daily Dot.
Alan Amyx has been arrested and detained at the Collins County jail.
Defending the social networking website, a spokesperson said that graphic photographs were not a violation of Facebook’s policy and that they could not be removed unless the victim’s account was hacked.
Amyx was previously convicted of ongoing sexual abuse of a minor in Rockwall County, as well indecent exposure in Dallas County, according to inmate records.
