Johansson, Capitals agree to deal

An arbitrator awarded him the $3.75 million.

The Washington Capitals have re-signed forward Marcus Johansson to a one-year, $3.75 million contract, senior vice president and general manager Brian MacLellan announced today.

The 24-year-old Swede had a career-high 20 objectives and 27 assists whereas showing in all 82 video games final season with Washington. A former first-round pick for Washington, Johansson has spent his entire career in the nation’s capital. He ranked third on the team in goals, fourth in points and tied for fifth in assists.

In global play, Johansson has played in 23 games with 17 points (6 goals and 11 assists). He has 186 points in 345 career games. He was part of the Swedish team that won the silver medal at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
