Patrick Marleau Won’t Be Disciplined For Hit To Bryan Rust’s Head

Marleau received a two-minute minor on the play and the National Hockey League has decided that is enough punishment.

Sharks forward Patrick Marleau will not receive any supplementary discipline for his hit on the Penguins’ Bryan Rust.

Rust left the ice, came back for one more shift, then did not play for the rest of the game.

You hope Rust will be able to return at some point in the series, but it will be interesting to see whether he will be able to go tomorrow night, and what kind of adjustments the Penguins will make if he’s unable to.

Rust scored his sixth goal of the post-season in the first period to open the scoring for the Penguins.

There was no update on his status, and whether or not he will be available for Game 2 on Wednesday night at Consol Energy Center.
