“He’s got a very good attitude and he fully deserves his chance for Man United and now England”.

England’s final friendly before flying to France on 6 June will be after the final squad has been named when Portugal visit Wembley on 2 June. “I’ve always thought that to get into an England squad before a tournament is based on merit”, he said. I was happy to see Jordan [Henderson] back and these three matches can help with fitness.

Leicester City’s Danny Drinkwater, Marc Albrighton and Andy King praised the club’s fans, who turned out in droves for Monday’s title parade. If we really play well, do our best and produce the type of football we can produce, which we’ve shown in quite a few games recently, who knows where that will lead us?

The form of Kane and Vardy this season in particular has led some to suggest that Rooney should not make the starting XI, while there have been reports that the United player could be moved out to the left.

“Andros was unlucky to lose his place when he was not getting a regular place”.

“But I think that over the last couple of games we’ve played that they’re an exciting bunch”. I am not certain I want him involved in who I should pick.

He reacted on Twitter, writing: “I am of course disappointed not to make the squad, but I have spoken with Roy and respect his decision”. The 24-year-old said: “Absolutely buzzing!”

“Towards the end of the season I started thinking about it but before I wasn’t. Thanks for all the messages”.

The only other club to see more than four representatives chosen for a final England squad is Everton, who had five in 1968.

Although, neither have played as often as they have in seasons past, the inclusions of Fabian Delph and Andros Townsend will surely encourage heated debate as to the credibility of their insertions.
