Memorial Day – Honoring the Fallen
Memorial Day honors men and women who have died while serving in the US military.

Allison-TiffanyA Memorial Day service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Allison-Tiffany Cemetery, southeast of Tiffany on County Road 329.
The annual Memorial Day services will begin 8 a.m.at LuLu Falls Cemetery.
The location for the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery annual Memorial Day celebration today has been changed to the Killeen Civic and Conference Center due to weather.
Also in the city of Amsterdam, the American Legion Post 701 will be conducting ceremonies in the Green Hill Cemetery at 9:30 a.m. Post Vice President William Laberis said the group will start at the Civil War monument, then move on to the Spanish American War monument.
Schuyler – The John A. LaPolla VFW Post 8728 will host a service at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Schuyler Fire Department, Newport Road, honoring the deceased members of the fire department.
The menu will consist of a half-rack of barbecued ribs, baked beans, fried okra and cornbread muffins.
In the town of Bernalillo, a Memorial Day parade will take place at 11 a.m. The route is on Camino del Pueblo from Camino del Bosque to Loretto Park. A ceremony in Waterloo on May 5, 1866, honored local veterans who had fought in the Civil War.
After, there will be a luncheon by the American Legion Morris J. Edwards Post 168, 38 West Main St.

“It’s just a nice way to celebrate the holiday and think about those that made it the holiday”, said Barbara Brockett of North Haven.
CortezA Memorial Day celebration will be held at 7 a.m. Monday at the American Legion Post No. 75, 320 N. Harrison St., followed by a breakfast. The parade will include floats, high school marching bands, veterans, service members, local and national celebrities, service organizations and clubs, and much more!
Col. Joseph Davidson, commander of the U.S. Army Garrison Fort Hamilton, will be the reviewing officer at the parade.
Simes had the chance to participate in the Memorial Day tradition, which has taken place annually since the memorial opened in 2008.

The band will lead the parade to the Kelloggsville Cemetery on Caleb Avenue where service will begin at 10:30 a.m. The parade participants will then place a wreath at the WWI Doughboy Memorial and the Desert Storm Memorial.
