Floyd Mayweather Fuels Rumor Of Fight With Conor McGregor With Promotional

With speculation on a possible “MMA vs Boxing” bout between UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor and Floyd “Money” Mayweather running rampant, the fighting community went wild when footage surfaced of McGregor engaging in a sparing session with boxing veteran Chris Van Heerden.

Mayweather dropped his version of a fight poster, albeit a very rudimentary design, with no message attached but another sign that he’s still trying to land the fight with McGregor. Mayweather was the one who approached him at a gym to ask if he could train the MMA fighter.

“There are a lot of rumors out there that I’m getting calls from Conor, asking me to train him; they’re not true”, Roach explained.

“He has not called me yet but Mayweather did come by my gym last week and he asked me to take that job if it’s offered to me”.

‘He told me the fight is gonna happen and we’re gonna make a lot of money.

In an interview with ESPN, boxing analyst and trainer Teddy Atlas said that McGregor would need at least five years of training before he is ready to fight Mayweather.

“Mayweather is the best boxer in the world and he would not even lose a round against a guy with Conor’s experience”.

Harsh words, but you also have to remember that it would probably take Mayweather much longer to learn the skills to be a UFC fighter.

Whether the UFC would permit its biggest star to compete in a boxing match is by no means certain but White did not sound open to it during an appearance on The Herd earlier this month. I will say this, Conor can throw and he has a puncher’s chance.

Mayweather, who could get over $100 million for the fight, “retired” for the third time in his career after defeating Andre Berto last September. The fight, if it takes place, will be under boxing rules and McGregor is just starting out in learning the sport. Diaz was set to be his match in UFC 200, and while that got canceled it is likely that it will be arranged for a separate event.

“Conor comes with a boxing background”. Bleacher Report speculated that Mayweather’s post is another publicity stunt to keep the fans clamouring.
