If the Dead Island development is going to be started from the beginning by Sumo Digital again, it would make sense if they discard everything that has been shared about it by YAGER before them. During the same time, Sumo Digital is also working on Dead Island 2, but no word has been given on what the status of the game is.

It seems there’s more trouble brewing with the development of “Dead Island 2”. If you only want one of the games and not both, both Dead Island Definitive Edition and Dead Island: Riptide Definitive Edition are available separately, but the new Dead Island Retro Rampage, a retro side-scroller, is only available in the collection. It was noticed that the game’s listing on Steam has been deleted.
“It wouldn’t surprise me if it turns out the game is being cancelled”.
The deletion of “Dead Island 2” on the Steam database has further strengthened the speculation that the game is now dead in the water. Although the title was originally announced way back in 2014 at that year’s E3 and even has a trailer, it’s already seen a host of problems, including a change in developers. A few months later Publisher Deep Silver parted ways with the game’s developer Yager citing the cause as “creative differences”. That does not bode well.
