Joint Veterans Council Memorial Day ceremony held
Several Memorial Day commemorations are scheduled for Monday.

“I think it brings everybody together – camaraderie”, she said of the parade. Those attending that service told 22News the importance of making sure rain didn’t stop the objective of the day.
“What Memorial Day is really about is coming out here and appreciating the veterans that served and paid the ultimate price”, said Justin Moy, a Southern Nevada Devil Pup. A hearty group of town residents also lined the streets to show their support.
Missoula is celebrating Memorial Day with events happening across the city to honor the men and women who gave their lives serving in the US military. And it just… To remember them as a happy person. “He was killed in 1967 and three or four of them if they were alive today, I would associate with them”, says Delfo Barabani Junior.
All are welcome. The event includes flag and honor songs, speeches by visiting dignitaries, special presentations by the Veterans Association and the line-up for the Walk of the Warriors.
Flags will also be lowered on Monday in observance of Memorial Day.
“It’s something that we forget”, Dr. Braun said. “We’ve known, loved, held our friends and buddies for today is a personal day for us”, Major James Burch, a recipient of the Purple Heart and the Silver and the Bronze Star, said.
When it’s veterans, he returns the thanks, because couldn’t have served without them.
He says the rituals involved in ceremonies like this help all Americans understand and remember the sacrifices that thousands of Iowans have made in the nation’s wars.
“On 1952 for Christmas, Cardinal Spellman was there, and we all went to church”, he said.

After WWI, the day was expanded to honor all those who passed in all American wars.
