Animal rights activists disrupt Bernie Sanders rally in Oakland
Activists do not protest at Bernie Sanders rallies in opposition to Sanders himself, but rather to pull Sanders in their direction.

Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders attended Game 7 of the Golden State Warriors vs. Oklahoma City Thunder series in Oakland Monday night, drawing a parallel between his underdog candidacy and the Warriors’ come-from-behind series win.
Animal rights activists made it past the barricades and attempted to rush the stage before being stopped by security at a Bernie Sanders rally in Oakland, Calif. on Monday. Sanders pressed forward with his speech after the interruption.
Sanders has not specifically addressed this issue, although he has noted that he is against factory farming and supports small, locally-owned farms and sustainable agriculture practices.
Sanders was not harmed and at least four protesters were removed. He spoke with BLM leaders and activists following the incident. In March a protestor jumped a barricade and tried to get on stage at a Donald Trump rally in Vandalia, Ohio, prompting Secret Service to react similarly by hopping on stage to shield the candidate.
“It was handled professionally by the Secret Service”, Sanders spokesman Michael Briggs said. The group has advocated for animals to be protected under the Constitution, according to ABC News.
Ziegler, 23, said members from Direct Action Everywhere chapters from across the country were in nearby Berkeley for an annual forum hosted by the grassroots group.

The Sanders campaign did not respond to a request for comment. The newspaper said that Sanders declined to acknowledge the protesters at the time.
