“Game of Thrones” is set to return to HBO for its sixth season in Spring 2016.

Game of Thrones fans should be happy that HBO bosses have decided to exploit it further due to its enormous popularity and now they are saying it wouldn’t end before eighth season.

“I think “seven seasons and out” has never been the conversation”, Lombardo said. “The question is how much beyond (seven seasons) it will go”.
There could be more than eight seasons, if he can talk the creators into it. He shared, “I’d love to change their minds, but that’s what they’re thinking right now”.
“I would be open to anything [the producers] want to do”, Lombardo teased. He said the showrunners are now focused on figuring out the remaining seasons of their current show.
However, one person that fans won’t be reunited with is Jon Snow, who the source is reporting is definitely done, despite the reports that Kit Harington was busy filming with the cast in Belfast. He be dead. Yes. He also insisted Jon Snow is really dead. [Benioff and Weiss] feel like there’s two more years after six.
And, of course, since he was talking about “Game of Thrones“, he had to touch on whether Jon Snow is actually dead.
Lombardo also replied to comments regarding a prequel series. “Around the time that the second episode of season six is showing, HBO will order season seven, we hope… or maybe, just maybe, they will order seasons seven AND eight”, Martin explained. “That would depend fully on what they wanted to do”.
Lombardo, noting that the drama has included violence as a thread since it started, said the producers are careful about not overstepping boundaries while remaining true to the storytelling. I think from the very beginning of this show, we see a 7-year-old boy pushed to his seeming death from a tower. “We’ll have an honest conversation that explores all possible avenues…”
