New Giants wide receiver James Jones looking forward to competing

Wide receiver James Jones has been patiently waiting for an opportunity this offseason, and now the 31-year-old says he is headed to the New York Giants on a one-year deal, according to Fallon Smith of CSN Bay Area.

Part of the reason he joined the Giants was offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo, whom Jones spent seven years with in Green Bay.

“When I look in a room like that, I get excited”, Jones said.

Adding Jones to a group of receiving weapons for Eli Manning that already included Odell Beckham Jr., Victor Cruz, Rueben Randle, RB Shane Vereen, TE Larry Donnell and talented youngsters like Washington and TE Jerome Cunningham would appear to be quite a coup. It’s unlikely, however, that the veteran will be intimidated after his years with Aaron Rodgers the high flying Packers.

Entering his ninth NFL season, Jones had 73 catches for 666 yards and six touchdowns with the Oakland Raiders in 2014. Some of the offers presented to Jones could have allowed him to win another Super Bowl with the Seahawks or possibly gain a large contract with the Eagles. “They put numerous strain on the quarterback (on this offense), which they need to as a result of they’re the ones making the huge bucks. (As a receiver) it simply permits you to go on the market and play and not likely should assume an excessive amount of”.
