London Games samples retested, 23 new doping failures
It would be delusional to say the London Games was “in the words of many yesterday” dirtier than Games before.

Now the Olympic Committee of Russian Federation will have to tell IOC who of the suspected athletes will be present at the retesting of their B samples.
Leonid Carp (kayak singles, kayak double), Andrei Stefan Strat (canoe double), Elena Meroniac (kayak doubles) and crew of 4-person canoe 4 formed of Traian Neagu, Catalin Turceag, Daniel Burciu and Petrus Gavrila are athletes who tested positive at doping control.
Almost two dozen athletes have tested positive for banned drugs in a reanalysis of samples from the 2012 London Olympics, the International Olympic Committee said Friday.
All that is known so far is: the athletes represent six different countries and play in five different sports. All of them were facing being banned from August’s Games.
Chicherova said she was in “complete shock” and could not explain the positive test. “Less than 50 athletes and I think that estimate will be on the high side”.

More failures could be coming, the Lausanne-based Olympics body said, noting that “the reanalysis programme is ongoing, with the possibility of more results in the coming weeks”.
The Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) has confirmed that doping samples of eight Russian athletes taken during the 2012 Olympics tested positive after rechecking.
Concerns about doping have plagued the build-up to this year’s games, due to be held in Rio in August.
“There is no information on London yet, hopefully, our athletes are not there [on the list]”, Nagornykh told R-Sport.
It has already been stated that any athlete found to have failed anti-doping regulations will be banned from competing at Rio 2016.
Earlier this week, the ROC said 14 of its athletes from the 2008 Beijing Olympics had tested positive for banned substances.
Russian Federation has pledged to ban all athletes with a doping past from its Olympic squad.
