Police investigate possible shooter at UCLA

The entire campus was on lockdown and police asked anyone on campus to shelter in place.

The “Daily Bruin” tweeted that the incident was occurring at an engineering building on campus around 10:00 a.m. local time.

Two men were found dead in a small office inside of the engineering building.

“We have two victims”, police spokesperson Aareon Jefferson told AFP, adding that officers were searching the sprawling campus for an armed gunman.

“Everyone is really on edge and contacting loved ones to let them know we are safe”, she said in a telephone interview.

The chief says an active search remained underway Wednesday to ensure there are no more victims and no outstanding suspects.

Two people were killed in a murder-suicide at UCLA on Wednesday, prompting a campus-wide lockdown and forcing hundreds of terrified students to hide in buildings.

According to a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson, a radio call came in from campus at 10:03 a.m. PST about the shooter.

Mehwish Khan, a UCLA student, told the Los Angeles Times that the “whole campus just started running and I started running too”. LAPD said no additional suspects have been seen.

“There’s not been any reports of any bombs or devices”, Newman said in response to a question about other possible threats.

UCLA’s final exams are scheduled for next week, with graduation set for Friday.
