This same thunderstorm also caused a tent to collapse, called The Dome, in the suburban Rosemont and a temporary evacuation of the music festival Lollapalooza.
One person has died and several people are injured after a tent collapsed at a festival in suburban Chicago.
Some thunderstorms, like those moving through the west suburb, are expected in the afternoon, but more widespread stormy activity, with high winds especially prevalent, will take place later in the afternoon and evening, the weather service said.
Hip hop super-producer Dr. Dre says the wait is finally over – he’s going to release his first album in 15 years.
The paper said three of the injuries were serious and 17 to 20 other people suffered minor injuries.
Photos of the scene showed police and fire officials holding up a sheet over a body and chairs, tables and other debris strewn on the grass near where the tent collapsed.
Prairie Fest is an annual, four-day festival in Wood Dale. Thousands of people attend and there were around 5,000 there on Saturday night, said a city council member for the area, Art Woods.

In the city, organizers of Lollapalooza reopened the iconic music festival after the storm threat prompted them to evacuate attendees.
