At 12:35 p.m. Wednesday, the National Weather Service issued a flash food warning for Lubbock until 2:00 pm. Five to seven inches of rain was measured in parts of southwest Lubbock.

The Heavy Rain has ended, but extensive flooding continues.

Flood warnings were also in place in several areas close to the Trinity River including the West Fork Trinity River near Boyd, affecting Wise County, and the Trinity River at Trinidad affecting Henderson and Navarro Counties. Please continue to heed any remaining road closures.

Gudmestad said much of the Texoma region received between half an inch and three-quarters of an inch of rain Monday and Tuesday, though isolated areas received higher amounts, such as the 1.11 inches reported from just south of Dorchester. The flash flood watch is now in effect for a portion of South Central Texas including Atascosa, Bexar, Gonzales, Guadalupe, Karnes, and Wilson counties. A flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. If you see floodwaters or come upon a flooded roadway, keep in mind to turn around and do not drown.
