Bikers with the American Legion Post 196 travel up River St.in the Milford Memorial Day Parade. Following the pledge will be the Honor Guard, playing of the bag pipes, reading of poems in memory of all fallen veterans and guest speakers.

For the chairman of the Veterans Memorial Park Association in Tuscaloosa, the holiday is about honoring the almost 22 million veterans across the country, as well as the many others who died serving the U.S. He hopes others believe that, too.
He’s a veteran and it’s a day for him to reflect.
The procession conducted ceremonies at Riverside Park, Poncha Springs Visitors Center, Poncha Springs Cemetery and Fairview Cemetery. However, in between the cookouts, the parades, the beach and the sun, let’s take time to think about the significance of Memorial Day.

Two more state veterans cemeteries are in the works.
The Legion’s Memorial Day ceremony Monday, May 30, is open to the public. This year’s keynote speaker will be longtime broadcast personality John Maino.
Over in West Duluth, veterans and military members, and partners of the community marched down grand avenue in honor of those who made the ultimate sacrifice. The Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Vietnam Veterans Association will participate. “And I was fortunate, I’m here to celebrate for them”, retired Staff Sgt. Ronald Holmes said.
American Legion Post 635 will conduct services at noon Monday at Evergreen Cemetery.
Colonel Guy added, “What greater honor can we give them than to remember them”.
