Women Take Short Break From Consuming Fancy Cheeses to Prevent Date Rape

The friends revealed the incident in a viral Facebook post that received more than 109,000 shares as of Monday.

Research by the Florida Institute of Technology reveals one in four women on college campuses across the country are victims of rape or attempted rape, and like the woman Ulrich, Saltzer, and Kenyon reached out to, in 84 percent of these cases the woman is targeted by a man she knows, and 57 percent of cases of rape and attempted rape take place on dates.

“The poor woman had to sit through 40 more minutes, sitting across from “one of her best friends” knowing that he was trying to drug her”, Sonia wrote on her Facebook.

According to Ulrich, the woman returned to her table and avoided her drink despite her partner repeatedly clinking his glass against hers in an effort to get her to drink up. Unfathomable. Somehow this woman was able to keep her cool and return to her table and wait for justice to be served.

They delayed the man until authorities could arrive. “They got him on tape”.

You have probably heard the advice that you shouldn’t leave your drink anywhere at a bar, and women are often advised to keep drinks with them at all times, lest a stranger drug them.

Michael Hsu, 24, was arrested on suspicion of drugging with intent to commit a felony, according to Santa Monica Police Lt. Thomas McLaughlin. The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office sought bail of $1 million, but a judge reduced it to $350,000 at Hsu’s arraignment Tuesday.

We’re all familiar with the phrase “If you see something, say something”, but if you witnessed the unthinkable, would you have the courage to speak up?

“The head of security came by and said that because we notified them immediately, they were able to go back and review the footage from the security camera”.

Speaking to Mashable, Sergeant Jeff Glaser of the Santa Monica Police Department confirmed that the incident had occurred.

Ulrich said that other diners came up to thank her after the police left, and to tell the women that similar events had happened to them or to people close to them.

“It happened to my roommate at a producer’s party”, one person said. The post has been shared more than 115,000 times. “I just said: ‘This is going to sound really weird”.
