Johnson and Weld, the former GOP governors of New Mexico and MA respectively, won the Libertarian nods for president and vice president during a raucous convention in Orlando on Sunday. Libertarians also allow their party to choose the vice presidential nominee, and Johnson’s chosen running mate – Weld – is not a party favorite, as many question whether he’s really a Libertarian.

The Libertarian Party of Arkansas has a candidate running in every congressional office (Democrats are challenging just two seats) along with a handful of state legislature and justice of the peace races.

“I think that they’ve already started coming”, Johnson said. That definition should be left to religions and individuals – not government. Johnson was the party’s nominee in 2012 as well.

It was not immediately apparent what attacks the announcer was referring to, but in a statement to the New York Times about Weld, Trump said, “I don’t talk about his alcoholism”.

On Sunday in Florida, delegates to the party’s convention picked Johnson over several other candidates.

“I am fiscally conservative in spades and I am socially liberal in spades”, Johnson told The Associated Press. The party’s best showing was 1980, when candidate Ed Clark got slightly more than 1 percent of the vote.

According to FiveThirtyEight.com, a poll put Johnson at 10 percent against Trump and Clinton.

On Sunday, the Libertarian party in the United States nominated Gary Johnson as the Presidential candidate for the upcoming elections to be held in the fall of 2016.
