GTA Online is not a permanent fixture and the franchise will be “rested” when it seems necessary, according to new comments from the CEO of publisher Take-Two.
The June expansion for Grand Theft Auto Online has received a new trailer, showing off all the new gigs and gadgets that’ll be available in the Further Adventures in Finance and Felony add-on. Apparently, it has earned the company as much as $500 million from microtransactions.
Liberty City was the location of many great Grand Theft Auto games including Grand Theft Auto IV, The Lost and Damned, The Ballad of Gay Tony and GTA: Chinatown Wars. “It’s important that it not be permanent”, CEO Strauss Zelnick explained to delegates at a recent tech conference.
“We do expect GTA Online‘s results to moderate because October will be three years since we released it”, he said about GTA V’s multiplayer component. That seems to be the case for GTA V Liberty City, spotted via Adrian Page’s online portfolio. Take-Two doesn’t want its flagship franchise getting old and “recycled” with sequels being released too often.
This update has been touted as one of the “biggest and deepest” updates that Rockstar have worked on to-date, and with Zelnick’s comments taken into account, there’s an nearly “enjoy it while it lasts” feel about the game’s future.
Or as I like to call it, quality over quantity.

If you’re a GTA Online fan there’s no need to panic as the end of the line won’t be soon for the multiplayer mode.
