Clinton to deliver Trump-focused national security speech

She says: “This is just more evidence that Donald Trump himself is a fraud”.

The non-stop campaigning – coupled with a small ad buy, dozens of surrogate events and targeted get out the vote efforts – is more than Clinton’s senior aides expected to commit to California months ago.

Hillary Clinton does not have the 59 percent needed to win on the first convention ballot, so anyone can still win, and every vote for Sanders helps show the super-delegates that he is the candidate they need in the general election.

Geographically, Clinton is ahead in the Bay Area (56 per cent to 42 per cent) and Los Angeles County (54 per cent to 40 per cent), while Sanders has the advantage in the inland/valley areas (54 per cent to 44 per cent) and the coastal region (58 per cent to 36 per cent).

In addition, New Jersey is key because after decades of being a firmly Democratic state, forecasts are that it could swing to Republican Donald Trump in the November election, although Clinton on Wednesday accused the real estate magnate of “fraud” and emphasised what she called his complete “incompetence” to be the nation’s next “commander in chief”, EFE news agency reported.

“I think we have an excellent chance to win California, and it is just possible that we might win it in a significant way”, Sanders said to New York Times reporter Yamiche Alcindor.

Even if Clinton loses, however, the California vote will likely give her enough delegates to secure the Democratic presidential nomination at the party’s upcoming national convention in July.

Hillary Clinton appears on the verge of clinching the Democratic presidential nomination.

The fight for votes in California is being waged in places like a union office in Los Angeles, where Clinton supporters make phone calls beneath a USA flag and a homemade “I’m with Hillary” poster, or a folding table on a bustling commercial strip in Burbank, where Kellerman, the Sanders organizer, works to register voters.

In recent days, Clinton has criticized Trump over his past business practices, his recent promises to raise money for veterans and his now defunct education company, Trump University.

“She’s one of the worst secretaries of state in the history of our country”.

“She’ll make clear that the choice in this election goes beyond partisanship: Donald Trump is unlike any presidential nominee we’ve seen in modern times and he is fundamentally unfit for the job”, said Sullivan.

“She will reflect on her experience making the tough calls and doing the hard work of protecting our country”, Sullivan said.

In California and nationwide, young Democrats have expressed an overwhelming preference for Sanders. He spent Wednesday hitting Clinton for opposing an outright ban on hydraulic fracturing, a controversial drilling tactic. “Instead, she would simply impose a few more regulations on it”.
