Payne, who seems to have a wonderfully infectious personality, posted a video of herself wearing a Chewbacca mask that makes the Wookiee growl whenever the wearer opens their mouth. Her undeniable and totally contagious delight quickly made the video the most-watched live stream on Facebook after racking up more than 140 million views.

‘I’ve got to disagree, ‘ Abrams says.

In what can be called a skit version of Carpool Karaoke, Payne took James to work though, she spent more time playing in her Chewbacca mask than she did driving.

The Star Wars superfan explained that as she walked through the toy section, her shoulder bumped into a box – which just so happened to be the hilarious but somewhat creepy, purring Chewbacca mask. “And I’m like, ‘I didn’t buy it for you, little kids'”.

The video showed Star Wars fan Candace unboxing a Chewbacca mask in a department store carpark, and her hysterically joyous reaction to its functions. ‘You know that that doesn’t sound anything like Chewbacca, right?’

“I think the world, as a whole, is in need of a good laugh”, Payne told Robin Roberts. “I wanted to prove to all of my Facebook friends and family that that mask was mine”, she told Corden to big laughs.

When back in the studio, Corden also reads a note from real-life Chewbacca, Peter Mayhew, to Payne.

A week and 135 million Facebook views later and Candace is still laughing her head off. “It’s an excellent Chewbacca”, before all three don the mask which emits the character’s signature howl.

“Candace, you are an inspiration”. “Your attitude and lovely message really resonates and spreads the good word of Star Wars with a heart while it’s so much of why we do what we do”. “‘I love you, but this isn’t for you!'”
