With Chris Evans and Friends star Matt LeBlanc at the helm for the new series last night, viewers and critics were keen to see how they fared compared with the previous trio.

Revamped motoring show Top Gear endured a torrid return to British TV screens on Sunday (29May16) after losing viewers.
Indeed, the programme has been at Number One on the Most Popular list of the BBC’s catch-up service since transmission on Sunday, ahead of yesterday’s visit to EastEnders. “FACT. These are THE FACTS folks”, the television personality wrote Monday.
And here’s @achrisevans, “Top Gear” host. James May revealed that he had watched the show and remains a “massive fan” but would not comment on the negative public reaction. While a lot of audience did turn on their TV to watch the show, majority tuned off and called Evans Mr. Shouty and LeBlanc Wooden and hammered.
Reviewers zeroed in on the BBC’s decision not to introduce major changes to the show format.
One said: “5 minutes in and it’s clear that Chris Evans is just trying to be Jeremy Clarkson”.
While the ratings will most likely be kind to the premiere of the rebooted Top Gear, Twitter was not.
The season premiere drew an audience of between 4.3 and 4.4 million viewers, a figure that is expected to rise with repeat and on-demand viewings this week.
“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” actor Jesse Eisenberg and chef/”MasterChef” host Gordon Ramsay were the the first to take on the new track, with Ramsay clocking a better time than Eisenberg.

The newspapers were a bit more forgiving, while also levelling their own criticism at the show.
