The links for the pre-recorded films will be recorded in a giant tent, so instead of a “cool wall” they will have a giant canvas instead.
The first stop will be Johannesburg, South Africa.
Perhaps more exciting, is the fact that the show is putting on a competition asking readers to submit the most unusual places they’ve pitched tents.
Clarkson, Hammond, and May will reunite next month in front of a live audience in Johannesburg, South Africa, with tickets being released as part of a prize draw.
While the trio has yet to comment on the BBC’s latest efforts, Amazon has revealed where their first show will be filmed, and it is a long way from Dunsfold, Surrey.
May joked on Twitter that the location was “chosen by Richard Hammond, who’s run out of biltong”.
The launch of reformatted Top Gear with Chris Evans at the helm passed without Clarkson commenting on the show, although Evans did see a lot of abuse from those missing the show’s former host.
When one South African fan asked if the news was true, Hammond confirmed and suggested the team hold a braai – Afrikaans for barbecue.
Photos uploaded to The Grand Tour’s Facebook page show the trio have already begun shooting in Portugal, Germany, Barbados and North Africa.
