Ronda Rousey’s Octagon Return Delayed After Knee Surgery

The first question TMZ reporters had for promotion president Dana White, naturally, was whether or not Shevchenko – nicknamed “Bullet” because life is amusing that way – will still be fit to compete against “The Preacher’s Daughter” this summer in “The Windy City”.

“I’m hoping we’re going to get Ronda back this year”, White told “SportsCenter” on Thursday. She feels great, her spirits are great and she’s been training.

Ronda Rousey, I don’t know.

UFC fans may have to wait longer than expected to see Ronda Rousey return to action.

Since the loss, there have been questions regarding when Rousey would be seen back in action.

UFC officials had been targeting the historic event at Madison Square Garden for Rousey’s return, but the timeline for her recovery seems to put that date in doubt.

Ronda Rousey’s return to the UFC will take a little more time. “If not, then he would probably fight at the New Year show at the beginning of the year”, White noted.

Rousey’s last bout was her stunning loss to Holly Holm in November, and she has since made a number of media appearances.

“If Miesha Tate’s still the champion, she’ll fight Miesha Tate”.

Regardless, when she returns, White is still promising an immediate title shot to the woman that drove mixed martial arts to a new level in the mainstream media. Miesha Tate is the current champion after besting Holm in March, and she next fights Amanda Nunes at UFC 200 in July.

“If Miesha Tate is still the champion, [Rousey] will fight Miesha Tate”, White said. “Whoever has the belt, Ronda Rousey will fight”.

“Injuries happen in this sport. I’m not even saying Holly Holm can’t be champion by the time Ronda comes back”.
