Libertarian party selects former Gov. Gary Johnson as presidential nominee
Libertarians from all over the country were in Orlando on Sunday afternoon, where they nominated former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson as their nominee for President of the United States.

Trump and Clinton are both receiving double-digit negative net ratings in polls.
Libertarians saw a meteoric rise in media coverage of their convention over the weekend.
Who exactly is Gary Johnson? Many Republicans are adamant about not voting for Donald Trump, citing a range of reasons.
“Frankly it’s a relief not to have to carry the Republican Party’s anti-choice, anti-marriage-equality and anti-social-freedom positions around on my back as I’ve had to do for the last 30 years”, Weld told convention delegates. The audience roared in approval at the news. Johnson adds, “I’m all about smaller government”.
While his big party opponents have election budgets nearing a billion dollars, the Libertarian party spent $2.5 million (2.2 million euros) on its 2012 campaign. I’m very pleased with everything he’s come out and said so far. But candidates must be at 15 percent in the polls to participate in the presidential debates.
“How about the best of both worlds?” He also said he would cutback on military interventions that result in making people less safe in the world. He was followed by Austin Peterson of Missouri, with 23 percent and John McAfee, developer of early commercial anti-virus software with 14 percent.
Though Johnson received just 1 percent of the vote in 2012, he is already polling nationally at 10 percent. Weld squeaked by on a second ballot with just over 50 percent of the vote.
“You’ve trusted me with the nomination here”, Johnson said of the nomination he secured hours before.
It’s official: The Libertarian Party has a presidential candidate. With the negatives of presumptive Republican nominee Trump and leading Democratic contender Clinton at historic highs – 58 percent for him, 54 percent for her – many Libertarians think this is the party’s moment to attract a significant portion of the electorate.

Former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson hopes unfavourability of Clinton and Trump will boost his third party bid. “The Libertarians give these voters an honorable alternative if Mr. Trump makes himself unacceptable”.
