India Lauds Canadian PM Trudeau’s Apology on Komagata Maru Incident
As Trudeau reached for the whip, parliamentary video showed he elbowed NDP MP Ruth Ellen Brosseau in the chest. Much has been made about what it says about the temperament of our PM but what has been less discussed is what precipitated baby Trudeau’s little temper tantrum.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau delivered a formal apology in the House of Commons for the Komagata Maru incident which happened almost a century ago.
Toronto resident Nisha Shirali said she chuckled to herself when she saw the news.
A contrite Trudeau apologized to Brown, Brosseau and all MPs for his actions on Wednesday evening.
The Prime Minister got no further before MPs and invited onlookers in the packed galleries rose in their seats in a standing ovation, the Star reported.
“The way that members behave in this House is important”, he said.
Interim Conservative Leader Rona Ambrose spoke about the incident, she says it showed how the Liberals feel about the opposition trying to hold a debate.
Stating that Turdeau’s apology in the House of Commons was a historic moment for the Canadian Sikhs, the World Sikh Organization (WSO) of Canada president Mukhbir Singh said, “It also recognizes the dark chapter the Komagata Maru tragedy marked in Canada’s history”. “I know, and I regret that my behaviour yesterday failed to meet this standard”. Trudeau said there would be no unanimous agreement over the future of pipelines needed to carry oil from landlocked Alberta, but the government’s long approval processes ensured any decisions would balance concerns from both the environment and the energy sectors.
On Thursday, House leader Dominic LeBlanc said the government would withdraw the controversial motion.
“On a workplace level, if that kind of thing happened in a workplace, just a sorry isn’t enough”, Bergen said.
The Supreme Court struck down a prohibition against doctor-assisted suicide and gave Ottawa until June 6 to draft new legislation that would permit consenting adults with serious health problems to end their lives.
“I also watched him as he yelled something so out of line that I will not repeat it in the House”.

“Given the fact that the prime minister has pled, ‘I’m guilty, ‘ ” the question will be whether his apology is sufficient”, Christopherson said, adding altough the Liberals have a majority on the committee, “they’re going to have a hard time sweeping it under the rug”.
