With his victory in the Senior PGA Championship, Rocco Mediate established a new 72-hole scoring record.
His countryman Rocco Mediate was the standout in the opening round of the tournament, carding a 9-under 62 on Thursday to surge to a one-stroke lead. “They’re just great guys”. He also won the 2014 U.S. Senior Open.
John Daly practices at Harbor Shores Golf Club in Benton Harbor the day before the start of the Senior PGA Championship.
Spieth wins again: Jordan Spieth birdied his final three holes, chipping in from behind the 17th green and closing with a 34-foot putt, and shot a 5-under 65 to win at Colonial for his first home state victory. “I would love to have made a couple more putts, but so would everybody else in the field”. Goodes had seven birdies, including a stretch of five in six holes, starting with No. 5. To come back here, I wanted to make a good showing of it. I really did.
The 58-year-old German won the Regions Tradition last week in Alabama for his sixth senior major title and 100th worldwide victory. 7-10. The Scot won in 2014 at Harbor Shores and a year ago at French Lick Resort in Indiana.
Chasing a fourth major victory in the senior ranks, Montgomerie covered the first 10 holes in the final round in four-under.

But today I’m playing against pretty much the other best player in the world of our age. The three-time PGA Tour victor has successfully fought a rare skin condition, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, to play the 50-and-over tour. He got into the tournament by winning last October’s Senior PGA National Championship. The 22-year-old Dallas native was a stroke out of the lead after two rounds last week at the Byron Nelson, and was alone in second going into the final round before a closing 74 that left him tied for 18th.
