The mother was taken to a hospital.
Once police and paramedics arrived at the home, they began treating her. The boy’s mother was hospitalized in critical condition with self-inflicted st.

The mother was in critical condition at an area hospital with self-inflicted stab wounds to her abdomen and neck, but was expected to survive, Crump said.
Phoenix police say a mother stabbed to death her three young sons before wounding herself badly in a suicide attempt early Thursday. The two older boys, five and eight years of age, were found in the closet with multiple stab wounds as well as some body parts dismembered, according to Phoenix police spokesman Trent Crump.
Police said the woman went to school in the Valley, was in Virginia for a time and came back. She allegedly also stabbed herself, but survived.
The woman may have been pregnant with another child, and she stabbed herself in the abdomen.
The woman’s brother called 911 early Thursday after his sister stabbed herself some time after he returned from work to their northwest Phoenix home late Wednesday, police said.
A 40-year-old Boise woman and her three children died after an SUV plunged Thursday morning about 70 feet off a cliff and into Lucky Peak Reservoir, authorities said. When the woman initially spoke with her brother in the garage after he returned home, she was “talking about she had found in life or what she needed in life”, Crump said.
Officers didn’t discover the boys’ bodies until they started searching the whole home, Crump said. “It’s a murder investigation at this point”.
Residents said the neighborhood of townhomes is quiet, and the older boys frequently rode bicycles outside.
She went on to say that her daughter had no reason to be overwhelmed with the stresses of motherhood and that she had plenty of help with the kids.
Severns says the boy’s deaths are tragic and that she’s still processing what happened.

Crump said during a press conference later in the afternoon that they are not aware of the woman suffering from any mental illness.
