Ben Affleck’s Batman film will be ‘original story’ independent of comics

While you might think Miller is towing the company line here (he is now doing Dark Knight III after all and wants to make more Dark Knight stuff), he has always been someone never afraid to tell what he thinks, even if it’s controversial or offensive, so if he didn’t like Ben Affleck in Batman v Superman, he certainly at best would’ve said nothing about it, and more likely would’ve ranted about how awful he thought it was.

The fan favorite creator recently made an appearance at MegaCon (via DCcomicsmovie.com), and during a panel was asked about Batman V Superman, and what he thought of Ben Affleck’s take on Batman.

While speaking with Cines Argentinos, Affleck said he’d interact with the source material in a similar way that director Zack Snyder did for “Batman v Superman”. Affleck said he would do an original story but that he would *ahem* borrow the great stuff from the comics.

We can obviously guess Affleck was writing the Batman movie at the time of being questioned, so his answer probably sheds light on his and Geoff Johns’ direction for the movie, which is speculated to be titled The Batman.

These comments aren’t all that surprising; Batman has a long and rich comic book history and Affleck would be foolish not to utilise it.
