He has an all-time record of 110-115-1.

We understand and accept this hard decision by Ian McCaw to resign as Athletic Director and are grateful for his service to Baylor University. He then spent two seasons (1976-77) as head coach at Liberty High School in Bedford, Va., before returning to the college ranks as an assistant coach at Emory & Henry (1978), Marshall (1979-83) and Air Force (1984-94). Grobe did win an ACC title with Wake Forest in 2006 and he went 3-2 in postseason bowl games.

Baylor will conduct a full search after the season. Under Grobe, Wake Forest played in five more bowl games.

Change is coming fast and furious to Baylor.

It’s possible that Grobe was selected by someone other than McCaw, and/or over his wishes, and that Grobe’s hiring signals a shift of decision-making power from McCaw to persons above even his pay grade.

This is a hard time of the year to hire a football coach, especially at a university wracked by scandal reaching the president’s office.

According to USA Today Sports, the school on Tuesday dismissed Colin Shillinglaw, the athletics director for football operations, and longtime staffer Tom Hill, who held a variety of roles over the last 15 years. Baylor’s president, Kenneth Starr, stepped aside on Thursday at the board’s urging.

“We understand and accept this hard decision by Ian McCaw to resign as Athletic Director and are grateful for his service to Baylor University”.

McCaw has served as AD at Baylor since 2003. Bliss was trying to cover up NCAA violations involving Patrick Dennehy after he was murdered by Carlton Dotson.

McCaw hired Briles to replace Bliss and helped raise funds to build a $250million on-campus football stadium.

The regents released the following statement Monday: “We understand and accept this hard decision by Ian McCaw to resign as Athletic Director and are grateful for his service to Baylor University”.

But many questioned that decision, wondering how much the current staff knew of the scandal.

The changes at Baylor happened shortly after the university released partial findings of Pepper Hamilton, the law firm hired to investigate Baylor’s response to sexual assault allegations.
