Sixers, Hawks discussing a potential trade involving Nerlens Noel and Jeff Teague

The Atlanta Hawks are reportedly discussing a trade that would send point guard Jeff Teague to the Philadelphia 76ers as part of a “package” in exchange for center Nerlens Noel, according to The Vertical’s Shams Charania.

They have four unrestricted free agents this offseason, including Al Horford, and seven members of their rotation will be free agents in 2017 (Paul Millsap has player option).

Take this for what it’s worth, but sources are contemplating that the Sixers could be one of the interested parties in Bulls point guard (and former MVP) Derrick Rose.

Noel is close to six years younger than Teague and plays a position that isn’t as deep around the league. For the previous regular season, he has played in a total of 53 games, and was averaging 17.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks, shooting 50.8 percent from the field, through 30 minutes of playing time per game. Noel’s departure would open a spot for potential No. 1 pick Ben Simmons as the NBA Draft draws nearer.

Both teams have discussed the deal, but an agreement isn’t imminent, as revealed by the sources. But from here, a swap centered around Nerlens Noel and Jeff Teague would be a poor use of resources from the Sixers’ perspective. ChicagoNow.com and other websites suggest that Chicago is looking to trade Rose at all costs, as the team turns its attention to rebuilding their next contending team.

Are we on the verge of a mini-shakeup to the Eastern Conference terrain?

Charania added the sides “have discussed the deal recently” and that Philadelphia has expressed “strong interest over the past year in acquiring a high-end starting point guard”. They have over $60 million in cap space and also the 24th and 26th picks in the draft.

Bazemore didn’t just average the most points per game in his career last season (11.6 PPG), but was also a menace on the defensive end-which his upside has always stemmed from.
