Toyota adding 1.6 million vehicles to Takata air bag recall
NHTSA mentioned that all the cars with defective air bags will be recalled and replaced all through May 2016 to December 2019.

A confluence of factors is causing Takata-built airbag inflators to fail, exploding in a cloud of shrapnel instead of inflating the airbag during an accident.
The decision affects some models of Corollas, Lexus and Scion made between 2006 and 2011.
The claws of the Takata airbag saga have reached further into Nissan’s model range, with the carmaker forced to expand the recall program for its Tiida small vehicle.
The newest recall underscores the continued expansion of what has ended up being the most extensive automotive recall in the US ever. Toyota will also replace airbag inflators or airbag assembly for the 2010-2011 4Runner, as well as the 2011 Sienna.
Toyota announced Monday its recall phases arranged by three geographic zones, which were structured by the NHTSA’s risk factors. Takata airbags have been linked to at least 11 deaths and hundreds of injuries around the globe over the past several years. This expansion involves approximately 1.58 million additional vehicles in U.S.
