After blasting NM Gov. Martinez, Trump now says he wants her endorsement
One day after endorsing Donald Trump, House Speaker Paul Ryan disavowed the presumptive Republican presidential nominee’s accusations of bias against the judge in the Trump University case because of his “Mexican heritage”.

Ryan’s announcement was released as Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton was delivering a foreign policy speech excoriating Trump’s approach.
Mr. Cole said the decision to endorse Mr. Trump would bolster Mr. Ryan’s main priority of protecting Republican seats in the House. Senior Ryan advisers have also remained in close, routine contact with Trump’s campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, a Republican lobbyist with longtime ties to GOP leaders.
The speaker first spoke out against Trump when he said a year ago that his immigration policy would include a ban on Muslims entering the country.
This marks the end to months of standoff between him and Mr. Trump, where many a times Mr. Ryan said, he is not ready to endorse Trump. “I won’t pretend otherwise”, Ryan wrote of Trump.
Ryan warned that he’ll continue speak out again Trump “if that’s necessary”.
“Perhaps in the future we can work together and come to an agreement about what is best for the American people”, Trump said at the time. “Most importantly, it is obvious that Hillary Clinton is not”, Ryan said.
Ryan writes in a local newspaper in his home state of Wisconsin that private conversations with Trump have convinced him that the New Yorker would support his legislative agenda as president.
Ryan says, “it is my hope the campaign improves its tone as we go forward and it’s all a campaign we can be proud of”.
Ryan reiterated that he endorsed Trump because he believes that the real-estate magnate will help advance Ryan’s conservative policy agenda, which he is set to begin unveiling next week.
Mr Trump celebrated the endorsement on his favourite venue, Twitter.
Wisconsin Democrats reacted to Ryan’s endorsement with scorn. As I said from the start, my goal has been to unite the party so we can win in the fall.
Mr. Ryan’s endorsement puts him at odds with Mitt Romney, who selected Mr. Ryan as his running mate in 2012.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell – one of the earliest supporters of Trump after he became the presumptive nominee – told CNN’s Jake Tapper Thursday that Trump’s fight with Martinez is an example of a broader problem that could alienate Latinos for decades.
The governor also criticized Trump’s language and politics at a event where wealthy GOP donors were in attendance in April, and, of course, ripped back against Trump’s recent ruthless critique of her performance. Most Republicans in Congress have followed Mr Ryan’s plan to reduce the cost of the popular programmes that are contributing to the national debt.
An official with knowledge of the Ryan deliberations, who did not want to be identified discussing internal strategy, said the decision to proceed with the endorsement was made this week by Ryan personally.

I wasnt just going to sign up sight unseen without even having a conversation or knowing what direction, because he had only mentioned a few policies in the primary, Ryan said.
