Is the current Xbox One on its last legs?

Rumors say that at least one of the major game developers are making a VR game for the Xbox One next year.

The official E3 website has added a new category that’s added fire to the flame of Xbox One VR rumours. The point of interest would not only be centered on the powerful GPU of the model and the reported computing speed at 6 teraflops, but it would likewise be on the capability of the Xbox to support Oculus Rift.

Is Microsoft working on a new Xbox One console that will be powerful enough to handle the requirements of some of today’s best virtual reality headsets? However, all that is rumored to change as speculations grow that the next installment will be made available on both Windows 10 and Xbox One.

We probably won’t ever know if Scorpio was merely a reactionary move from Microsoft or whether it was something they always planned, but what has been clear for some time now is that traditional console cycles might well be a thing of the past. Don’t buy the current system or you’ll hate yourself come E3 time.

According to the report, the game will be released in 2017, and Microsoft has plans to reveal the game at E3 2016. Although it remains to be unknown, many deem it as the next-generation Xbox console that Microsoft will release sooner or later. What is more interesting is that a separate Polygon report substantiates the rumor citing their own sources.

Of course, that depends on how many awesome-looking exclusives Microsoft can put out as well to make lowering the Xbox One price worth it.

With news of Sony’s PlayStation VR, we’ve been left to speculate as to what Microsoft’s approach to console VR will be.

Which of the upcoming consoles are you most excited for? The game will also have the phrase “VR” in the title, which does suggest that’s being built specifically for the technology instead of just being a game that also works with VR. However, rumors claim the box is codenamed “Scorpio”.
