Agnieszka Radwanska crashes out in rain at French Open
Tsvetana Pironkova on Tuesday became the first Bulgarian female tennis player to reach the quarter-finals at Roland Garros French Open since Sesil Karantancheva in 2005.

Radwanska seemed to have the worst of it in reasserting her game of touch, placement and spin, and Pironkova not only levelled with six straight games in the second set, 6-3, but raced ahead in the decider, 4-0.
Now Pironkova will meet 21 seed Samantha Stosur in the quarter-finals of the French Open tennis tournament. There followed another two-hour delay before the matches were called again, despite the ongoing drizzle. The balls were wet, completely wet during the match. The man from Djokovic’s half would have to finish the fourth round on Wednesday, play the quarterfinals on Thursday and then the semifinals on Friday or Saturday, before Sunday’s final.
She would win all seven points in the breaker, and converted on her only break point chance in the second set to complete the 7-6 (0), 6-3 victory.
“Ultimately it’s the players the ones they care the least about in this tournament”. Just shy of 7 p.m. local time, officials cancelled the rest of the day’s play. Halep said. “I don’t care that I lost the match today, but I was close to getting injured with my back, so that’s a big problem”.
“I didn’t feel safe on court”, Halep told reporters.
This Grand Slam of woe descended into acrimony on Tuesday when beaten players hit out at being made to play in the appalling conditions that have descended on the French Open.
World number one Novak Djokovic had dropped first set before winning second during his last-16 clash against Roberto Bautista Agut.
“I don’t know who allows us to play in these kind of conditions”, Radwanska said. Maybe I played worse, did worse things other days than when we start to play that match, but it definitely, you know, shouldn’t be like this. He’s an wonderful player, so I could see him triumphing in spite of the rain.
The top-seeded Djokovic, seeking to win a fourth consecutive major title and complete a career Grand Slam, was facing 14th-seeded Roberto Bautista Agut of Spain at a almost empty Court Philippe Chatrier, where the handful of spectators huddled under umbrellas. They want to make money, it may look good to some, but I think this is a scam. I just can not play in that conditions. It was impossible to play in my opinion, ‘ said the Romanian, who did not want to restart the match this morning in the first place. But Stosur got off to a rolling start, earning three break points and leveling the opening set at 5-5.
The players were pulled off court in the first set on Sunday evening because of rain and darkness and could not play Monday when the entire day was washed out for the first time in 16 years.
“I think was not a good idea to say something because you say without reasons”.

The first men’s quarterfinals are also listed on the schedule, weather permitting: Second-seeded Andy Murray against No. 9 Richard Gasquet, and defending champion Stan Wawrinka against Albert Ramos-Vinolas. “I have no words right now, I’m so happy”, said Pironkova, a former Wimbledon semi-finalist.
